Bio
Caprice Cartejena is a fictional character I play at Hogwarts Express MUSH. The following is her IC info:

Caprice's mother is the pureblood Italian designer Luciana Adrienne Nosadini, graduate of Beauxbatons. Her father is Constantino Sebastiano Cartejena Flores, a Spanish pureblood man with wealth in the gold and diamond mines in South Africa, and a graduate of Durmstrang. They married in December of 1961, and Caprice was born on February 14, 1965, the second of a line of attractive children. Her older brother Nikolay was not yet two when she was born, and she herself was followed by three more siblings: Serafina, Dante, and Isidro. Caprice, unlike her older brother, was born at the family's ancestral home just outside of Madrid, Spain, and is the only one of the siblings not born in London.

By 1968, after their second daughter was born, Luciana and Constantino decided to move permanently to their London home, rather than travelling back and forth. Caprice's life between birth and Hogwarts was that of the idly wealthy, receiving the finest in basic wizarding education and learning both Spanish and Italian as well as English while she grew up in Spain and England. The first two were natural and necessary for her, given her family lineage, starting from when she was young. She's only as fluent as he is in them now because she's made an effort to be in the intervening years, given she moved to London at the age of three, and she tends to be more predominantly fluent in Spanish. Given both languages are related to one another, however, she can mix the words up when she's distracted, or particularly in a fit of temper, switching back and forth between them.

Having had to compete for her parents' attention with four other siblings, Caprice learned two lessons very quickly: how to pick her battles, and to have something else ready to do when Papa and Mum weren't around. She discovered books fairly early on, reading such Muggle classics as Treasure Island, Moby Dick, Tom Sawyer, and The Three Musketeers. While her literary taste tends to vary, she has a preference for tales of adventure (particularly, but not limited to, pulp novels); she also has a sense of the dramatic that lends itself toward her 'playing out' her own series of adventures, often accompanied by props or bits of costume. A natural curiosity combined with her thirst for adventure led to her first use of magic, at the age of six: while exploring one day, she found herself locked in a closet, and after some time had passed without anyone finding her, she began to panic. Banging on the door in an effort to draw someone to her rescue, she was surprised when the lock suddenly clicked and the door opened.

The episode with the locked door stayed with her, and she swore to herself that it would never happen again, as no 'real' heroine would ever find herself in such dire straits. Having by now read several novels which mention lock-picking as a means of escape, she resolved to learn it for herself, and while it was slow going (she wasn't lucky enough to happen upon 'How to Pick Locks in Ten Easy Steps', alas), she finally mastered the art of picking a simple lock with a hairpin by the time she was nine. Anything more complex (or magical) is still well beyond her (though one of her first spells to learn upon reaching Hogwarts was Alohamora), but the interest led her to an entirely new obsession: Muggle 'magic tricks', which she discovered almost by accident. Perusing the lower shelves in a Muggle bookstore, she came across an old, dog-eared copy of a how-to manual about magic, and it wasn't until she got the volume home that she discovered that nothing in it was actually magical. Still, she found the text quite fascinating, and spent the next few years practicing a number of the tricks detailed within it, until she was able to perform several of them.

When her letter finally arrived, Caprice was more than ready to escape her younger siblings and embark on 'the great adventure that is Hogwarts', or so she told them in her loftiest voice. Her older brother promptly remarked that he expected her to be Sorted into Slytherin, but then the eldest two siblings have been engaged in a fierce rivalry for as long as Caprice can remember (mostly due to her brother's jealousy of her when she was a baby, though she doesn't know this). In spite of Nikolay's pronouncement, however, the Hat wasted no time whatsoever in Sorting her into Ravenclaw, where she proceeded to outdo her older brother for the first time ever, in the field of academics. Potions and Astronomy quickly became her favorite subjects, followed closely by History of Magic and Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Caprice has a fascination with most things Muggle, particularly in the arts (art, literature, film, theater), and occasionally quotes from books, plays or movies, which can be confusing for those not versed in the subject. She's a bit of a romantic, though she has yet to seriously apply it in a personal sense; rather, she looks at things from a romantically idealistic standpoint without the 'messy complications' of an actual relationship. While she has her moments of quiet studiousness, much like the stereotypical Ravenclaw, there is a wilder aspect to her personality that can't be contained in any library, and aside from her rocky relationship with her older brother she can be as personable and charming as any of her siblings.
